In 2018 the Office of Community Services (OCS) Division of Energy Assistance (DEA) will issue over $3B in block grants to Low Income Home Assistance Energy Programs. California has allocated over $1M to the CARE Program alone.
Many low-income people may not be aware of these grants, or if they are aware they may not be able to navigate the application process. Screen, educate, and activate low-income individuals so they can receive benefits.
1. Notify utility customers about programs and allow them to opt-in to further reminders and information.
2. Conduct pre-screening to determine eligibility for programs. Allow clients to take photos of verification documents and send to you via text message.
3. Direct eligible individuals to the next steps for application and help them through the process.
